About us

Flukey Feathers is a Friendly Badminton Club based in Bournemouth, Dorset.

We are affiliated to Badminton England and goose feather Shuttlecocks are used.

We cater for a variety of  abilities, from social players to league players. Whilst we can sometimes also accept beginners, please note that if you are a beginner, you will need to contact the club secretary, Russell Clarke, before coming for the first time. Please also see the “beginner” page for more information and help.

As our club night is from 7:45pm to 9:45pm we don’t usually have youngsters attending the regular club night, as it tends to be too late in the day for them. More advanced younger players of twelve years and over are welcome to attend and join in with the adults during school holidays, when the late time may not be a problem.

We hope to be able to start a junior section in the future at an earlier time to cater for younger players.

Please note this website is still under construction, so some content will not be available at this time. Check back soon!

    1. Yes, but there is no club night tonight, as our normal venues are unavailable.
We are back at the LEAF academy next Wednesday, the 24th of August from 8-10pm. Use second unmarked entrance on Duck Lane, Bournemouth, BH11 9JJ

    1. Hello Choi, our club night venue is changing temporarily from this week, as our normal venue is closing for the summer months. Club night will be on Wednesdays from 8-10pm at the Leaf Academy in Bournemouth. Duck Lane, BH11 9JJ. Best to call me first if you are not familiar with the venue. 07780 449544. Kind Regards Russell Clarke.

      1. Hello Russell
Thanks a lot your kindly message. I’m a student in English college. I’m from Korea. I’ll stay six month in Bournemouth. While in Bournemouth, I want to play with your club. Please allow me to participate. Kind regard

  1. Hi Russell,

I am looking to join a badminton club and wander if you are welcoming new members. I have never played for a club before but I have always played for fun.

    Hopefully hear from you soon
    Thank you Sarah-Jane

    1. Hi Sarah,

We will be welcoming new members as soon as we can return to play unrestricted.
At the moment, this should be the 21st of June, but obviously we can’t say for sure until the government confirms the date.
In the meantime, we are partially re-opening on the 19th of May for existing members, but numbers are restricted to only 24 players per session, which is obviously rather limiting.
You may wish to join the Flukey Facebook group, for latest news here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/flukeyfeathers

  2. Hi Russel,
I’ve played badminton on and off for a few years but would love to get back to playing regularly again, when your club is back up and running, what venues do you use and are you taking new members?

    Many thanks

    1. Hi Rob, unfortunately not. Many venues, including the two that we normally use, are still closed, or are not available for the hire of badminton courts (particularly for doubles play). Where courts are becoming available we are not yet permitted to run a club night in the normal sense. Players have to be allocated into a bubble of a maximum of six players. These players can only play amongst themselves on one court and NOT mix with any other bubbles playing on other courts!
We hope to know more about the venues that we normally use shortly.
Please check out and join the Flukey Feather Facebook page, where updates will be posted……..

    1. Hi Dawn, probably best to give me a telephone call in the first instance to discuss and I can point you/him in the right direction.
I will be around most of Tuesday on 01202-395404.
      Hope that helps!
      Kind Regards Russell Clarke.

      1. Hi. Do you still run Saturday morning sessions for children. My son is 10, he played for a year when he was 5 then gave up but would like to try again. I’m thinking of sorting out training for him come September. What availability is there. Thanks Yvonne
