Local badminton coach and previous Badminton England County Development officer, Sandy Jones, has recently received an MBE for her long and unstinting service to badminton locally. Well done Sandy, it is very well deserved! Sandy Jones and local coach Kirsty Wilcox in photograph.

Sadly Badminton England has lost it’s president, Diane Troke. Diane (and her recently deceased husband Graham) worked tirelessly for badminton for many years and they will both be very much missed by those who knew them. Their kindness to everyone involved with badminton was truly out of this world! Both of their daughters are also very well known badminton coaches and are still working to bring our fantastic sport to many players. Some of you will know Catherine Sertin; but many more of you will know Helen Alcock, as she works locally as a coach. Diane’s funeral is on Tuesday the 21st of November, midday, at St Marks Church, 61 Church Road, Woolston, Southampton, SO19 9FR.
